YEREVAN. - Claiming that the head of the Armenian President’s staff is not authorized to speak on behalf of the authorities, oppositional Armenian National Congress (ANC) is deliberately making Serzh Sargsyan betray his party, country, the state system and appear in the state of ex-Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev, Chairman of the Union of Political Scientists of Armenia Hmayak Hovhannisyan told a press conference on Thursday.

According to him, the ANC acts like liberal democratic forces, seeking the collapse of the Soviet Union and calling on Gorbachev to take their side.

Hovhannisyan emphasized that in terms of policy strategy it is clear that the leadership of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia, as well as the head of Armenian President’s staff Karen Karapetyan cannot make statements without coordinating them with Serzh Sargsyan. Meanwhile, the ANC demands a direct answer from Serzh Sargsyan.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am reported that the Armenian National Congress is unwilling to respond to the statement by the Chief of Staff of Armenia’s President Karen Karapetyan, waiting for a response from Serzh Sargsyan himself.
