YEREVAN. – Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan explained very definitely to the international community in PACE that Armenia gets its society ready for peace and not for war, according to the desires of the international community, president’s permanent representative in the Armenian Parliament Garnik Isagulyan told journalists on Thursday. However, President Sargsyan’s words were differently understood in Armenia.

“The fact that Armenia makes no statements of war while Azerbaijan makes militant statements is already great compromise opposed to Azerbaijan’s aggressive policy,” Isagulyan told and added that the very fact Armenia does not recognize Nagorno Karabakh’s independence is another compromise. “Armenia made all possible compromises step by step during past seventeen years after the ceasefire. Now it is high time for the international community to realize that there is no additional compromise Armenia can make, as no compromise changed Azerbaijan’s position or end its militant statements.”
