YEREVAN. - Armenian authorities are ready to dialogue with opposition in any format, be it in debate club, Ojakh restaurant or even newly opened Sevan lake public beaches, said the head of ruling Armenian Republican Party parliamentary group Galust Sahakyan to a press conference.

He stressed that the authorities intend to dialogue, not to negotiate.

“I wouldn’t say that authorities are dreaming of dialogue with oppositional Armenian National Congress [ANC], however we must consider the will of certain segment of our society that supports ANC. Actually ANC deems too much of itself. Its leader, [former Armenian president] Levon Ter-Petrosyan, realized that his idea of Nagorno-Karabakh’s autonomous status within Azerbaijan was not met with triumph, and found a new hobby. But he certainly is not the almighty dragon that covers the water,” said Sahakyan.

Commenting on ANC timeline on starting a regime change in Armenia the MP jocked saying that these threats “have scared us [the authorities] to death, we just sit and shiver in anticipation of September."

Asked why ANC tightened demands recently, Sahakyan said that it is due to leakage from the ranks of the leaders of Congress, as well as the outflow of his supporters.
