Chief Editor of the Russian Izvestia newspaper sent a letter to the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov requesting to permit journalist Yuri Snigirev to enter Azerbaijan, 1news.az reports.
Earlier Azerbaijani foreign office banned Snigirev from entering the country “due to illegal visit to Nagorno-Karabakh”. Baku disliked the report prepared by Snigirev where he calls capital of Nagorno-Karabakh Stepanakert, not Hankendi. On the whole, the article was called “one-sided and only reflecting position of the Armenian side.”
Snigirev intended to visit Azerbaijan as well to present their stance on the issue, Lenta.ru reports.
In a letter addressed to Azerbaijani FM Chief Editor Alexander Malyutin said ban on entering Azerbaijan made the article “one-sided” expressing hope the situation will change in the near future.
Azerbaijani authorities “blacklisted” Snigirev after his trip to Karabakh in late June.
