YEREVAN. - Armenian Justice Board wrote petition to the President of Armenia on June 24, to cease the authority of the Judge Samvel Mnatsakanyan in Avan and Nor Nork districts of Yerevan.
Armenian Bar Association made a statement on this occasion, stressing that instead of the Judge Mnatsakanyan, the public should pay attention to the activity of Justice Board and Chief Justice of Court of Appeal.
“Armenian Justice Board wrote petition to the President of Armenia on June 24, 2011, to cease the authority of the Judge Samvel Mnatsakanyan in Avan and Nor Nork districts of Yerevan. According to the decision of the Justice Board, Judge Mnatsakanyan used alternative measure of restraint and released the accused on bail. We condemn strictly such attitude of Armenian Justice Board and chief justice of Armenian Court of Appeal and state that these steps will finally destroy hopes for creating independent court in Armenia. Armenian Court of Appeal should guarantee the same usage of laws, make decisions based on the precedents and secure implementation of cases.
However, Justice of Board has never written petition to Armenian President before to cease the authority of any judge for unreasoned decisions,” reads the statement.
