The treating doctors of the Czech president Milos Zeman have officially confirmed that he suffers from liver cirrhosis, and a nutritional tube has been inserted in his stomach, Remonews reported. 

He had previously performed for the first time since his hospitalization. He gave an interview to the radio station Frekvence-1, in which he announced that he hopes to remain in office until his term expires in 2023, and also that he is ready to start the procedure for the formation of a new Cabinet, led by the opposition leader, winner of the recent parliamentary elections, Petr Fiala. Their meeting is scheduled for Saturday.

More recently, the senators intended to remove Zeman from office for health reasons, but on Thursday he was transferred from the ICU to a regular ward and says his health has improved significantly.

Zeman was hospitalized, according to unconfirmed media reports, due to liver cirrhosis.
