Leonid Yelenin, an employee of the Keldysh Institute of Applied Mathematics of Russian Academy of Sciences, has discovered—in images obtained from the Abastumani Astrophysical Observatory—a new asteroid approaching the Earth, wrote moya-planeta.ru.

This asteroid is initially named "2021 UL17," and on Thursday it was located 18 million km from Earth, being visible as a weak object of the 20th stellar size.

The future trajectory of this potentially dangerous space object is being determined.
