YEREVAN. – Armenia records 20-25 percent increase in tourism sector annually. And has the highest index in the region, head of the tourism department of Armenian Ministry of Economy Mekhak Apresyan told the journalists on Tuesday.
The official however did not remember indexes of the neighboring states. According to official data, 1.1 million tourists visited Georgia during last six months, which is higher by 45 percent compared to 2010.
It is noteworthy that Armenian official statistics has no information on Jan-May. Armenia had 113,000 tourists on Jan-Apr, which is 22 percent higher compared to last year. Apresyan also added that prices are competitive in Armenian tourism sector.
