YEREVAN. – Armenian NGOs released a statement concerning the increase of suicides in Armenia.

“Nowadays, those who commit suicide are mainly young people. Previously grownups committed suicides due to socio-economic conditions. However, young people are more receptive towards external influence. We are sure that media, soap operas, programs that comment on suicides promote suicides among young people,” the statement signed by representatives of 43 NGOs reads.

The NGOs also demand that people responsible for media pay attention to the law and apply it properly.
