TBILISI. - Georgian President’s administration responded to Russian President Dmitry Medvedev’s interview on August 2008 war.

“It is alarming that the Russian President justifies ethnic cleansings, military aggression, and occupation against Georgia by the Russian Federation. It is necessary to pay attention to Medvedev’s words, according to which 2008 events gave a lesson not only Georgia, but also neighboring countries,” Georgian President’s Spokesperson Manana Manjgaladze told a briefing on Saturday, Georgia Online reports.

According to Manjgaladze, Russian President’s words looked like “Cold War rhetoric”.

“It is sad Medvedev is speaking of not only Georgia, but also neighboring countries in this manner, their statehood and expresses a complete disrespect towards the countries Russia is a partner with,” she noted.

Manjgaladze emphasized Georgia seeks civilized and friendly relations with Russia. However, it will be possible if Moscow respects Georgia, Georgian people, their will, freedom and fundamental rights and gives up fruitless attempts to restore the Soviet Empire.
