SOCHI. - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev are holding a meeting in Sochi. The two leaders are discussing expansion of bilateral relations, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, as well as international issues and world economic problems, RIA Novosti reports.
“Certainly, one of the focal points at the talks is Karabakh conflict resolution. I would like to hold a “sincere” conversation on further developments in the peace process following the presidents’ meeting in Kazan and previous meetings,” Medvedev said at the meeting.
In his turn Aliyev thanked Medvedev for his invitation to visit Russia. He emphasized that the bilateral cooperation is developing dynamically in all directions, including the economic and humanitarian spheres and energy security. Azerbaijani president also thanked Medvedev for his efforts to resolve the Karabakh dispute.
“The talks considerably brought the sides’ positions closer. Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is the main problem of regional security. Azerbaijan is more interested in the conflict settlement, than any other country,” he noted.
