GLENDALE. – A 42-year-old man was arrested on August 6 in Glendale, suspected in shooting at a businessman because of an alleged damage in a commercial deal, Glendale News-Press reports.

According to Sergeant Tom Lorenz, police detectives took Aram Varikyan into custody about 11.45 a.m. a day after he allegedly shot from his vehicle at a businessman in Glendale.

“It appears, in this investigation, that the victim was specifically targeted by the suspect,” he said. “This is not a random act of violence.”

According to police, the shooting occurred at about 04:53 p.m. on Friday, when the businessman, whose name wasn’t released, had just driven into the parking lot of NLE Systems on West Colorado Street. According to Lorenz, moments later witnesses told police that a silver Volkswagen Jetta arrived. Then the driver poked out and pointed the gun at the man. He shot several times striking the vehicle and windshield.

A large apartment complex on the Oak Street was also hit. However, no one was injured.

The next day police defined that Varikyan is the alleged shooter.

Details on Varikyan’s motive are limited as the investigation is still in process. However, police detectives believe that the shooting may be based on the damage in a commercial deal. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Varikyan is being held in custody instead of bail of $500,000. He is also held in custody for two unimplemented warrants for threatening the child and auto insurance fraud.
