YEREVAN. - Second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan will certainly try to regain power in case he sees the chance, said Hunchakian party member Vahan Shikhanyan to a press conference.
“Kocharyan is thirsty for power and glory. The duty of each Armenian is to prevent his return,” he said, adding that nobody ever caused more damage to Armenia than the second president. “It was under his administration that moral degradation of our society reached its climax, the social crisis grew deeper and the economy was totally devastated.”
Reflecting on the incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan, he mentioned than in issues on national character Sargsyan proved better that all his predecessors.
“Sargsyan made a step forward in all key issues – Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Armenian-Turkish relations, International Recognition of the Armenian Genocide. If he settles the social issues, he is most likely to be reelected,” said Shirkhanyan, adding that the Diaspora will probably support his candidacy.
