YEREVAN. - Armenian Ministry of Culture announced a competition for new arrangement of the anthem of Armenia. The results of the contest are most likely to be known in September, Head of Contemporary Art department of the Ministry of Culture Sona Harutyunyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

"The contest continues, we constantly receive new applications. The commission must select a new arrangement for the national anthem. Although there are no specific deadlines set for the competition, most probably, the choice will be made in September. We will have several new entries of the national anthem performed by a symphony orchestra, choir, vocal and brass instruments," said Harutyunyan.

The national anthem of Armenia was adopted on July 1, 1991. The text of the anthem is based on the poem of Armenian poet and social activist Mikael Nalbandyan "Song of the Italian girl", Barsegh Kanachyan is the author of the music.
