The British Parliament reported on its Twitter that the clock on London's Big Ben Tower had stopped for technical reasons.

"Today you might have noticed that the clock is on elizabeth tower show the wrong time. Their work had to be suspended and restarted in order to install some key components of the watch," the statement said.

The clock should return to normal operation in the near future.

In 2017, repair work began over London's Elizabeth Tower with the Big Ben bell. The restoration was decided after an inspection of the clock: it was found that the pendulum, the mechanism, and the tower itself needed repair.

The 96-metre high tower was designed by the English architect Augustes Puigin and built in 1858. It is a monument of the Victorian era and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In 2012, the tower was named after Elizabeth II to commemorate the 60th anniversary of her reign.
