YEREVAN. - The Armenian National Congress itself is not ready for snap parliamentary and presidential elections in Armenia, former Foreign Minister of Nagorno-Karabakh Arman Melikyan told reporters on Thursday.

According to him, the dialogue will prove to be effective if its agenda is expanded after some time, for instance in 1-2 months. “It will indicate the sides are ready to change the country’s domestic situation radically. Both sides should seek to achieve this,” Melikyan emphasized.

“I very much hope the dialogue between the authorities and oppositional Armenian National Congress will produce results. It a different thing whether the two parties will be able to make joint critical decisions,” he noted.

In his turn, MP from Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Mkrtich Minasyan emphasized a dialogue is the most acceptable platform to solve socio-political problems. “For instance, we believe that the Electoral Code creates the best conditions to hold elections. However, if another political force stresses the necessity to change it, it is their right. We can exchange views and reach an understanding through direct discussions,” Minasyan concluded.
