YEREVAN. – Over 10,000 people became donors for blood annually in Armenia. Thanks to them, Armenia implements about 13,000 blood transfusions annually, Armenia’s chief hematologist Smbat Dagbashyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

According to him, relatives of patients predominate among blood donors making 50.2% of the whole donors. The number of men-donors is 52%, and women-donors are 48%. Regarding the age category, 18-29-year-old donors make 44%, the age group of 30-39 make 28%, and 40-49-year-old people make 24 %. Donors above 50, make only 4%.
