YEREVAN. - A new pumping station that provides irrigation water to an area of 4,000 hectares was opened in Haghtanak village, near Noyemeberyan city on Tuesday.

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan as well as U.S. Charge d’affaires in Armenia Bruce Donahue attended the ceremony, Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent reports from Noyemberyan.

Millennium Challenges Corporation - Armenia carried out the construction of the station.

The pumping station and adjacent dam, built in Soviet times, were in inconsolable state. Moreover, there was a danger that the dam will collapse. Thanks to $ 5.5 million allocated by the MCC both the pumping station and the 65 meter dam underwent renovation works, MCC-Armenia ED Ara Hovsepyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
