YEREVAN.- There are no new detainees in death case of Karabakh soldier Aghasi Abrahamyan, spokesperson for Armenian Defense Ministry Davit Karapetyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
He dismissed press reports saying four people were detained in the case. An officer and a doctor of the military unit have been detained so far, he said not disclosing the names. Karapetyan said new detentions may follow.
Earlier on Thursday Armenian 168 Zham newspaper reported officers Suren Tadevosyan and Arsen Afyan, as well as doctor Nver Mirzabekyan were detained. Sources told the newspaper another seven people were expected to be detained by Wednesday evening.
Soldier of the Karabakh Defense Army Aghasi Abrahamyan, 19, was taken to hospital unconscious last Friday. He died in hospital an hour later. His mother claims he had many wounds on his body, which speaks of being severely beaten.
Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan said experts found traces of violence on his body and criminal case was opened.
“It is not a secret, list of people who might beat him is revealed. All the perpetrators will be punished,” Minister said.
