YEREVAN.- New arrests are expected in the murder case of Karabakh soldier Aghasi Abrahamyan, said Armenia’s military prosecutor Gevorg Kostanyan.
At the moment one officer is arrested, measure of restriction will be decided on Monday in the court of Goris city. Kostanyan stressed that lack of information provokes rumors.
Kostanyan said investigators are aware of two episodes: the first is violence in a military unit, after which Aghasi Abramyan felt bad and fainted. Then he was brought to the medical center located 30 km far from the military unit where he remained unconscious for 10 hours. There he faced violence of head of the medical center and was brought to military hospital where he died.
Prosecutor dismissed rumors that his death was probably caused by poisoning, falling out of bed and all the versions which could serve as an attempt to hide the crime. He stressed that these versions were not voiced officially as it was clear death was caused by violence. The final cause for his death will be revealed after forensic examination.
Kostanyan did not name the arrested officer saying he would do it in due time.
“The guilt will be punished. Two suspects are expected to be detained in the case,” he concluded.
