YEREVAN. – The Heritage Party issued a statement informing that, after a 6-month interval, the Party will now attend the Armenian National Assembly (NA) sessions. The statement specifically reads as follows: 

“As protest against the legislative agenda which does not reflect the internal and external demands of our people, and the new coalition memorandum which unconstitutionally predetermines the outcome of the next presidential elections 2 years before they are held, the NA Heritage Party Faction had suspended, on February 28, its participation in plenary sessions of the Armenian National Assembly. 

This notwithstanding, the Faction’s MPs did not stop carrying out their functions resultant of their mandates. Six months have passed. Heritage’s and its leader Raffi Hovannisian’s meetings with the country’s citizens in Yerevan and Armenia’s regions show that a clear notion of the need for a complete change in power aiming to systemic changes has consolidated among the society, and this notion now makes the coalition’s aforesaid memorandum null and void. Positively assessing this step by the Heritage Faction, the citizens find that it is time for the Faction to resume its activities at the plenary sessions of the parliament, and thus to secure the people’s presence and to protect their interests at the highest legislative body.

Joint session of the Heritage Party Board and Parliamentary Faction was held yesterday during which it was decided to resume the Faction’s participation in NA plenary sessions.”
