YEREVAN. – The example of WikiLeaks may prompt Armenian politicians to be more careful while making even unofficial statements, Armenian Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan told journalists on Tuesday.

“The WikiLeaks publications show that any remark, either made publicly or behind the scenes, may become public one day. Our politicians should make conclusions and be careful in their remarks,” he said.

As regards WikiLeaks- published cable referring to Abrahamyan’s meeting with head of U.S. diplomatic mission in Armenia Joseph Pennington, the Armenian Speaker said, “There was no such meeting and no such conversation”.

Whistleblowing website WikiLeaks disclosed a cable saying Hovik Abrahamyan allegedly slammed Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan during his meeting with Pennington.

Asked by the journalists whether he intends to assume post of a prime minister, Abrahamyan said he does not want to be a premier. “I want to be speaker of the parliament,” he added.
