YEREVAN. – Marking the 20th anniversary of Armenia’s independence, the Yerevan Brandy Factory has produced the “Hayastan” (“Armenia”) brandy, which will be retailed in the coming days, the Factory’s Executive Director Ara Grigoryan said during a press conference on Wednesday.

The “Hayastan” brandy is produced from the alcohol distilled from the grapes harvested 20 years ago, that is, in the first year of Armenia’s independence. “Hayastan” will be produced in a limited quantity (approximately 10,000 bottles), and one bottle of “Hayastan” will be sold for 55,000 drams ($146 US) in Armenia. But the brandy’s 75 percent will be exported, and, in Grigoryan’s words, this project is more of a representational undertaking rather than a commercial one.
