YEREVAN. - Armenian Police Chief Alik Sargsyan stumbled on the act of protest against demolition of Yerevan kiosks after he left the Cabinet meeting on September 15.

Participants of the rally asked the Chief of Police to protect their interests or at least not to send the "red berets" to dismantle the kiosks. Chief of Police, of course, rule out the possibility of intervention in the "affairs of the mayor" but expressed his personal opinion about the process.

"I already expressed my opinion – the process should proceed gradually, phase by phase. I would have ran it more smoothly but the mayor has his tasks, I have mine,” said Sargsyan.

Owners of kiosks also asked not to send special police forces, which municipality uses to scare the people.

"In as far as you stand for protection of your rights, do not fear neither of police, nor for anybody else.

A policeman shows up at the moment there is a need to keep public order, intervene when two people, figuring out the relationship, move on to assault or abuse. Please do not be afraid of "red berets," said the Chief of Police.
