YEREVAN. – No need to see only negative points in PACE statement on Armenian March1-2, 2008, tragic events in, MP Hakob Hakobyan told the journalists on Thursday commenting on the PACE resolution, which states the March tragic events’ page is closed.
“When PACE says something positive for Armenia, no one notices it. If we accept PACE viewpoint we should accept it in other cases too,” Hakobyan said. “Political dialogue is an opportunity to overcome a mutual dislike in the society and start everything anew. Hostility should not be forever. It should be overcome at some moment.”
The former head of Armenian Central Bank Bagrat Asatryan considers that current authorities are to blame for not having asked forgiveness from the relatives of the victims of March tragic events. This idea is something very odd, if the intentions of the authorities are limited to self-reproduction, representative of oppositional Armenian National Congress added.
As a result of authorities-opposition confrontations on March 1 and 2, 2008, eight demonstrators and two servicemen were killed in Yerevan downtown.
