YEREVAN. – Data by National Statistical Service indicate that Armenia has entered the economic activity phase, Armenian PM Tigran Sargsyan stated during the governmental session on Thursday.
“If we compare the economic activity index with the GDP index and try to assess, we will see that we have growth here as well. In line with expert evaluations, the current GDP growth is 4.5%, and this means our 2011 program is completely realistic,” Sargsyan noted.
In his words, after the unprecedented fall, the country’s agriculture is now registering a fairly high growth rate; in addition, industry is likewise growing with a high rate. But there still are serious problems concerning construction, whose GDP percentage fell by double.
According to the Prime Minister, Armenia’s economy was diversified, as a result of structural changes, and this guarantees that the 14% reduction in 2009 will not repeat.
