YEREVAN. – Our expectations toward having a rich grape harvest this year are not met, Agrarian Peasant Union of Armenia Chairman Hrachya Berberyan stated on Friday.

According to him, this is due to the spread of fungal diseases. The rain and ensuing hot temperatures contributed to the spread of fungal diseases, and majority of the farms did not take proper precaution against pests.

As a result, in Berberyan’s words, the grape harvest will be 50 thousand tons less than expected and comprise 150-160 thousand tons.

Yet Hrachya Berberyan highly assessed the start of grape purchase.
