YEREVAN. – Because of expensive diesel fuel and fertilizers, the cost price of agricultural products is increasing, which in its turn affects their market price, Agrarian Peasant Union of Armenia Chairman Hrachya Berberyan stated during a press conference on Friday.     

According to Berberyan, officials from the agriculture ministry had assured that fertilizer prices would reduce by 20 percent, yet they increased by 30 percent.  

As per Hrachya Berberyan, in general it was a “mediocre” year for Armenia’s agriculture. The apricot produce was 24-25 thousand tons and peach was 50-60 percent. In addition, the summer months saw a drought period, which in its turn adversely affected grain products and potatoes.
