YEREVAN. - Disruption of the dialogue between the ruling coalition and the opposition is on the conscience of Armenian National Congress (ANC), said MP from ruling Republican Party of Armenia Eduard Sharmazanov to a press conference on Monday.
He argued that the language of ultimatums adopted by ANC is unacceptable.
The dialogue between ANC and the coalition was interrupted after ANC activist Tigran Arakelyan arrested for a clash with police in early August was not released at the request of the ANC.
Sharmazanov also touched upon the topic of WikiLeaks cables on presidential elections in Armenia, quoted by ANC leader, former president Levon Ter-Petrosyan at September 9 and 23 rallies.
According to the reports of American diplomats, the elections of 2008 were held with serious violations and Levon Ter-Petrosyan received 30 – 35 percent of the vote instead of official 21 percent.
Commenting on Ter-Petrosyan’s speech Sharmazanov said that ANC leader should have referred to WikiLeaks cables on himself.
Recall that WikiLeaks published US diplomatic reports on the current condition of ANC. The Congress, consisting of 17 parties, did not fulfill its main task to shift the current government and failed to halt the loss of trust in society as the main extra-parliamentary opposition.Unsuccessful outcome of the struggle gave rise to disagreement among the members of ANC, says the publication.
