YEREVAN. – Speaking at the session of the UN General Assembly President Serzh Sargsyan pointed out progress in implementation of people’s right to self-determination, said secretary of ruling Republican Party Eduard Sharmazanov. He also stressed that Sargsyan’s speech was that of pan-Armenian leader.
“In his speech President Sargsyan voiced a number of important provisions,” he said. Among them are democratic reforms in Armenia, reasons for standstill in dialogue with Azerbaijan, importance of condemning genocides, as well as Armenian-Turkish protocols.
Speaking in the UN, Sargsyan drew attention to the example of Southern Sudan. He stressed that people of Nagorno-Karabakh made the same choice two decades ago by exercising their right to self-determination.
He mentioned that Azerbaijan’s utter unwillingness to reach an agreement and its “everything or war” position have stalled progress in the peace talks.
