YEREVAN. – Former US Ambassador to Armenia John Evans is in Armenia at the invitation of former Armenian FM Vartan Oskanian’s Civilitas Foundation, and Evans had, and still has, the closest of relations with Armenia’s previous President Robert Kocharyan and his associates, Zhamanak daily writes. “John Evans’ visit to Armenia is not a coincidence. Robert Kocharyan’s virtually irreversible decision to return to politics has compelled Armenia’s Second President to combine all his connections in Russia, Europe, and US. And this visit by Evans aims to gauge American disposition should Kocharyan return.

It seems John Evans, who is now a retired diplomat who primarily delivers lectures, at different Armenian organizations and unions, on the Armenian Genocide, is not against helping Robert Kocharyan by using his connections,” Zhamanak writes.
