MOSCOW. – U.S. should not interfere in the South Caucasus, journalist, Member of Public Chamber of Russia Maxim Shevchenko believes.

“I would like Americans to stop being co-sponsors of peaceful process. As much as U.S. is present at the South Caucasus there will be no peace,” he said at the interview with 1news.az.

In response to the report whether he offers to review the mediators on the Karabakh conflict, Shevchenko responded that peace in the South Caucasus should be formed by great empires, such as Russia, Iran and Turkey. They had interests in the region historically. However, those interests turned to be imperialistic, but such was the history.

According to the expert, the Karabakh conflict may be quickly settled, in case Turkey, Iran and Russia dialogue comprehensively. U.S. is not interested in the conflict settlement, neither for the benefit of Baku nor Yerevan. It needs to have suspended situation, concluded the journalist.
