YEREVAN. – Ruling coalition’s Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) considers the coalition’s Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) as its sole challenger in the upcoming elections, and it respects the opposition parties but does not consider them as its contenders, PAP MP Vardan Bostanjyan stated during a press conference on Thursday.

“We are not struggling for any seats, we are struggling for the prosperity of our country. We can claim any number of votes,” Bostanjyan said.

Armenia’s parliamentary elections are scheduled for May 2012.

And concerning PAP withdrawing from the coalition memorandum, Vardan Bostanjyan said he did not think PAP is inclined to quickly change its principles and demeanor, noting: “The Prosperous Armenia Party has presented itself to society with its imperativeness, turning talk into action, and aspiration.”
