YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Police Chief Alik Sargsyan, in a briefing with news reporters on Thursday, denied the information circulated in the press that, after being arrested, former Road Police Chief Margar Ohanyan had testified against him.

Hearing that the source of such information was Ohanyan’s attorney, the Police Chief said he will invite him to his office and demand the source of this information. “I don’t think the attorney would do such naïve thing,” Sargsyan stated.

“All fabricators will know very well that this will not harm me in any way. I will justify myself. I, too, am a lawyer, I know the law, as well. I will not hire myself a defender under such circumstance, and I will defend myself because I am clean; there is no more-powerful weapon than that,” the Police Chief added.

According to Alik Sargsyan, it is just that some officials are occupied with “bad” activities, and, through the press, they are trying to discredit or debase the image of a given person.
