YEREVAN. – Armenian Police Chief Alik Sargsyan and capital Yerevan’s Police Chief Nersik Nazaryan on Friday evening visited Liberty Square, where participants in opposition Armenian National Congress’ (ANC) public meeting are holding a 24/7 rally, Armenian Police Force’s Public Relations and Media Committee Chair Ashot Aharonyan confirmed to Armenian News-NEWS.am.      

But Aharonyan did not give details as to content of the officials’ conversation with rally participants and purpose of their visit.  A continuous protest demonstration was announced during ANC’s rally on Friday evening. ANC, led by Armenia’s First President Levon Ter-Petrosyan, demands early presidential and parliamentary elections. At the same time ANC expressed readiness to resume the suspended dialogue with the country’s authorities. Next rally will start on Saturday at 3 p.m.
