Georgian authorities are advertising the visit of French President Nicolas Sarkozy scheduled for October 7 saying nothing about his regional tour.

On the same day the French leader plans to visit Baku, while his trip to Yerevan is scheduled for the day before, reports Russian Vzglyad newspaper referring to Maestro television.

Videos calling on Georgian citizens to come on October 7 to the Liberty Square in Tbilisi are aired by Georgian pro-government channels several times a day, the newspaper writes. In the square French and Georgian Presidents will address the nation.

However, these commercials do not mention the visit of French President to Armenia and Azerbaijan. They say Nicolas Sarkozy is “one of the most influential leaders,” stressing that during the 2008 war, the French leader “supported Georgia” during France’s that time presidency in the EU.

Chairman of Georgian Club of Independent Experts Soso Tsiskarishvili said in an interview with the television that Sarkozy’s visit to Armenia is more important in the context of strong Armenian lobby in his country. He added that Sarkozy’s trip to Azerbaijan is crucial as well in the light of country’s growing economic importance for Europe.
