A new system of car license plates will be introduced in Armenia. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Davit Ghambaryan on Monday, during the debates on the bill on amendments and additions to the Law on Road Traffic Safety at the special session of the National Assembly.

Accordingly, the “special” license plates will be sold at auction. Moreover, these auctions will be held solely online.

"The logic will be the same as in the case of existing numbers; that is, there will be no symbols consisting of only letters or numbers. The whole matter will be in their combination," said the deputy minister.

The procedure for holding auctions and the starting price of these license plates will be determined by a separate decision of the Armenian government.
