YEREVAN. – The dialogue is not only in the interest of the opposition and the authorities, but also in our people’s and country’s interest because a realistic and fair solution to any problem requires a fair discussion, ruling coalition’s Rule of Law Party (RLP) MP Hovhannes Margaryan told Armenian News-NEWS.am, commenting on opposition Armenian National Congress’ (ANC) declaration made during its rally on Tuesday.      

He noted that the coalition working group’s statement, which was released on Monday and which deemed inexpedient the continuation of dialogue under the conditions of unlawful rallies, also reflects RLP’s viewpoint.      

“I believe The dialogue is not only in the interest of the opposition and the authorities, but also in our people’s and country’s interest because a realistic and fair solution to any problem requires a fair discussion,” Margaryan noted.

And in response to the question as to whether he is not concerned that the opposition force could resort to aggravations, Hovhannes Margaryan said: “Each force decides its own strategy and tactics. Dialogue is the right way. But if they resort to unlawful aggravations, the authorities must act within the law.”

During ANC’s rally on Tuesday, its coordinator Levon Zurabyan had declared that, “Armenian National Congress considers any more dialogue with such government to be meaningless. It believes that solution to problems put before us henceforth solely lies in the mobilization of our people and activeness of our large-scale events.     

Armenian National Congress had initiated the current discourse, and the suspended dialogue could only resume at the initiative of the authorities, if they petition to us with a corresponding request. We would examine that petition and make a decision,” Zurabyan had stated.
