YEREVAN. – Armenian ruling coalition’s candidate for the upcoming presidential elections is the current President Serzh Sargsyan, coalition’s Republican Party of Armenia MP Mkrtich Minasyan stated during his briefing with news reporters on Monday.

“With the coalition’s memorandum, I confidently say that our nominee will be Serzh Sargsyan,” Minasyan noted, also expressing a belief that other forces of the coalition would likewise support their candidate. “There is an agreement, and I am convinced it would be so,” the MP stated.

In response to the question whether these forces would not work against one another during parliamentary elections, Minasyan said: “Everyone will do its work to convince the people of its truthfulness.”

And in reply to the question whether cooperation is possible with Armenia’s First President and opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan and Armenia’s former President Robert Kocharyan, Mkrtich Minasyan did not exclude cooperation with Kocharyan, and, as example of such cooperation, noted the possibility of forming a new coalition.
