YEREVAN.- One of the priorities for us is symmetrical development of the regions, said Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan speaking at the forum of rural communities on Monday.

“This year was marked by a number of important anniversaries for Armenia. I want to highlight the 15th anniversary of our local self-government system, which is one of the most important social institutions. A system of local government requires a strong and well developed community. In this regard we welcome the meetings aimed at discussing rural development and numerous problems in this field,” he said.

Оne of the priorities for Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan said, is to ensure a symmetrical development of the regions. The Government of Armenia has developed a relevant concept, he added.

“Regional development implies the development of infrastructures and better conditions for agriculture. Many projects on repair of roads and irrigation system have been recently carried out. Educational, social and economic programs continue in the regions, health facilities are renovated,” President stressed.
