BAKU. - The leadership of Azerbaijani Islamic party decided to hold protest campaign on October 22 against long term imprisonment of 6 party members, party leader Movsum Samedov among them.
The party believes that the sentence is unfair and was imposed from the authorities’ level, reports Turan.
Islamic party leader Movsum Samedov was sentenced to 12 years in prison, his deputies Vagif Abdullayev and Rufulla Akhundzadeh to 11 and 11.5 years respectively. Party activists Faramaz Abbasov got 11 years, Dayanat Samedov and Firdovsi Mamedzaev – 10 years, Zulfugar Mikailov – 11 years with 5 year probation period.
The men are charged with the preparation for an armed crime assault and violent seizure of power.
