BAKU. – Yeni Musavat newspaper of Azerbaijan again reflected on the country’s defense minister, Safar Abiyev, and this time wrote that the minister deliberately appoints, as senior officers in the country’s army, those from his hometown of Ghuba.   

The newspaper even sent a special query to the minister, requesting an explanation for the aforesaid, but after the “ridiculous” response from the minister’s press secretary, Yeni Musavat decided to publish the names of several high-ranking military officials who hail from Ghuba. The newspaper also added that it continues receiving letters on the activities of the minister’s sons.    

Also, officers from the Military Academy of Azerbaijan had sent letters to Yeni Musavat, on several occasions, and reflected on Safar Abiyev’s activities, specifically his estates in Azerbaijan and abroad. In addition, information and articles criticizing Abiyev’s policy are published in Azerbaijani press in recent periods, and Abiyev had even filed a lawsuit against Yeni Musavat. In its turn, the newspaper had accused the country’s defense ministry of hacking its website.
