GYUMRI. - A major traffic accident occurred in Armenia’s Gyumri city on Wednesday at 10:45 a.m. Five vehicles crashed, but there is no information on fatalities and injuries.

According to preliminary information, an Ural-model military truck carrying servicemen could not break and subsequently it crashed into the automobiles parked in front of a car service center. The truck firstly ran into a VAZ 24-model car, and, as a result of the severe crash, the automobile rolled ahead for about ten meters. Afterward, the truck also collided with the other vehicles.

According to the driver of VAZ 24, he was at the car service center at the time of the accident. “It was good that I wasn’t in the car, otherwise it [the truck] would have hit me and taken me along,” he told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Road Police and Military Police officers worked at the scene of the accident, but local automobile insurance agents did not arrive.

Servicemen in the military truck were not injured, and the sole damage was material. The matter was resolved internally, but both the road police and the military police refused to provide any explanations on the incident.
