STRASBOURG. - Armenian Minister of Territorial Administration Armen Gevorgyan met on Wednesday with Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjorn Yagland.
Armen Gevorgyan arrived in Strasbourg to attend the 21st Sitting of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe (CoE).
Secretary General congratulated the Minister Gevorgyan on 20th anniversary of Armenia’s independence and 10th anniversary of CoE membership. The sides discussed issues related to cooperation between Armenia and the Council of Europe.
They touched upon the recent resolution on Armenia’s democratic institutions, which welcomed the close and constructive cooperation with the Council.
Armen Grigoryan said Council’s proposals on future reforms are very important for Armenia, adding that certain reforms have been made ahead of the elections.
Both officials stressed the importance of cooperation in all the areas.
