YEREVAN. – Families of those who lost their lives in the landslide that occurred in Armenia’s Bagratashen-Ayrum road will be provided 1 million drams ($2,670 US), each. Such was the decision reached during Thursday’s governmental session, Minister of Emergency Situations Armen Yeritsyan informed.   

On October 2, a landslide occurred at Tavush Region’s Vanadzor-Bagratashen section—nearby Ayrum railway station’s bridge and close to Lchkadzor village—of M6 Interstate Highway. The 130-meter-long and 60-meter-deep terrain covered the road, rendering it completely impassable, and average height of terrain covering the road was 10-15 meters. Five were killed and seven were injured in the landslide, and around 35 vehicles remained under terrain.

A total of 65 million drams ($173,510) were allocated from Government reserve funds to clear the landslide area.
