YEREVAN. – Aravot daily published the photo of an edifice belonging to Gevorg Ghukasyan, brother of Vardan Ghukasyan, mayor of Armenia’s Gyumri city. This structure was built in downtown around four years ago, and by way of quarrels and cutting down of trees.    

Based on a complaint filed by a resident, even a criminal case was launched last year against the mayor’s brother for turning the green-covered area into a trade center. But on the occasion of Gyumri Day festival, Mayor Ghukasyan invited ministers and other senior officials from the capital Yerevan to cut the ribbon of the very same structure.

During the festival the Ghukasyans, who are flourishing their business with their play hall for children and children’s café in downtown, are making fairly huge amount of money, and they consider this a generous gift to Gyumri residents. And they try to convince the government guests that their edifice is a valued structure—equal to Komayri Reserve—with great social significance, and a true ornament of Gyumri.
