TBILISI. – Western political figures try to persuade Russia that the organization does not threaten the state. Moreover, Georgia’s possible membership to NATO may stop making Russia nervous, Georgian expert on the Caucasus Mamuka Areshidze said in the interview with the Georgian agency Pirveli.
According to him, society is not aware of the global politics.
“Russia does not approve that NATO approached its borders, though NATO and Russia cooperate quite effectively on some issues, as Afghanistan,” Areshidze stated and added that it will be a serious problem for Russia in case NATO removes its troops from Afghanistan.
