YEREVAN. – Rescuers from the Armenian Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) are prepared to head to Turkey, in order to render assistance to the earthquake victims, but no response is yet received from the Turkish side, Deputy Head Nikolai Grigoryan of MES Rescue Service told Armenian News-NEWS.am.   

He also informed that the seventeen Armenian buses that are currently in Turkey have safely arrived in Mush, and there is no information on any Armenian casualty. 

By way of the UN and along with twenty other countries, Armenia on Sunday expressed readiness to take part in the rescue activities being conducted in Turkey. 

“I find this to be correct. We are obligated to provide assistance to our neighbors. If the Turkish side agrees, we will send rescuers and rescue firefighters to epicenter of the quake,” Minister of Emergency Situations Armen Yeritsyan noted.  

Sunday’s tremor was felt in Georgia, Iran, and also in Armenia, where its magnitude ranged between 3 and 5.
