Trial of the proprietor of Armenia’s Akhtala Mine Enrichment Plant, Metal Prince Company, and American-Armenian businessman Serop Der-Boghossian, who is charged with child molestation, continued on Monday at Lori Region’s Court of First Instance.

During the previous session, Der-Boghossian was questioned by prosecutor Aram Amirzadyan, who later motioned that two more witnesses be questioned on Monday’s trial. And during this trial one of those witnesses was questioned. 

According to Hovsep Sargsyan, Deputy Head of General Prosecutor's Office’s Committee for Cases Examined in National Security Service Departments, questioning of this witness became beneficial for the prosecution, in terms of strengthening its evidence.

Amirzadyan and Sargsyan told news reporters that, aside from the presented facts and evidence, they are also taking into account the defendant’s business name, his financial condition, reputation, and recognition, his position in society, and all these present him as a benefactor in Akhtala, and, as a result, the victims were dependent on him.   

“The question here is about psychological violence. If we start out from the fact that all [victimized] families are socially disadvantaged and a considerable number of the minors has a single parent, the temptation of money can also be considered some sort of violence,” Sargsyan noted.  In addition, they stated that their charges are substantiated.

The trial is nearing its end, and the next court session will be convened on Wednesday.
