YEREVAN. - Religious sects pose greater danger to Armenia than a potential Azerbaijani aggression, ruling coalition’s Republican Party of Armenia’s National Assembly (NA) Faction leader Galust Sahakyan stated during a NA briefing on Friday.
“As a citizen of my country, I believe the Church needs to be strengthened. I am saying [this] as a person for whom preservation of the people’s national identity is precious,” Sahakyan noted.
And concerning the bill on providing land and property tax privileges to the Armenian Apostolic Church, the MP announced: “The Church did not pay those taxes in the past, too, and now the privilege is specified by the law. Before, the state did not focus on that, [but] now it decided to clarify.”
